Chizi, Giddy , and Marvelous.
During our first outreach in Makoko, we met a young boy we’ll call Chizi (not real name). At just 9 years old, he had learned to memorize words without understanding them—he could barely read a sentence. Books were unfamiliar. Comprehension was out of reach.
Then there was Giddy(not real name), a bright child who spent his afternoons helping his mother sell snacks on the street. With no access to quality education, Giddy eventually dropped out of school.
These stories are common across underserved communities. But with your support, we’re changing the narrative.
Through the iAfrica Cloud School Foundation, we launched a community-powered intervention:
• We trained local facilitators from within Makoko.
• We equipped schools with basic devices and digital tools.
• We introduced foundational phonics and literacy instruction using interactive virtual lessons.
• We created safe spaces where children could learn, grow, and dream again

Just a few months later, Chizi now reads fluently and dreams of becoming a doctor. Giddy is back in school on full scholarship—his meals, learning tools, and lessons fully funded. And Susie, another learner from our program, proudly reads to her classmates and has rediscovered her voice.
